How will adding polyfill to my sub box affect it?

The title says it all really. I've got my two Coustic HT-812's in a dual chambered, ported box. Each chamber is 1.3 cubes with an 18" long 4" wide port tuned to about 35ish Hz. Now I know that polyfill makes the sub behave as if it were in a larger box. What I would like to know is how that would affect the tuning of the box. I'm presuming it would lower the tuning frequency, although I'm not too sure how much of a difference it would make. Any thoughts?

sometimes polyfill makes a difference other times it may work against you. your best bet is to just experiment and see how it works with your box

Yes, the stuffing would make the box act as if it is larger, therefore your tuning frequency would be lower. However, the change won't likely be that great, and you might not hear any difference.

Hey Geezle, we just covered this on CAP (well, what poly-fill does, not how it affects tuning) :wiggle:

Poly-fill makes the box seem bigger due to slower response time of the backwave due to adding density to the in-box environment... Yet it remains breathability, therefore volume taken up by it isn't negative, in most situations, stuff it loose n fluffy, 3m adhesive it down since you're vented... Tuning will drop a little bit as 04 said...

Glad to see that you're getting back into the audio man, now if only we could keep you at CAP :slap: :hs:

    Yeah yeah :hs:

I'm ditching the Elantra and getting a cheap car right away...I'm still running the same setup I've had, so I'm gonna have to transfer everything from one car to another AGAIN...once I'm not making car payments and get back on my feet I might have some money and start getting back into it again, but for the time being I'm just not really into it :sad2:

Everything is relative to perspective ;)

Long story short, I got fawked with my lease and I'd end up paying WAY too much for the Elantra...:sad2:
