I'm hoping someone will have some advice on this...

I've lost a lot of weight (90 lbs.) in the last six months or so.

I've been working out very hard, and have also been taking protein supplements (mostly why protein). Nonetheless, in the last month or so, I've started losing a lot of hair. My doctor says that this is a natural response to losing a significant amount of weight, and also to majorly adjusting my diet. And that there's nothing I can do about it until my body decides that "this is the new normal".

I know it's somewhat vain, but I'm female and my hair is important to me :o
Anybody have any ideas on supplements or diet changes that might take the edge off? Maybe biotin (and if so, how much)? I'm taking in about 1200 calories a day, mostly protein and vegetables. Very low carb, very low fat. I'm also taking multivitamins, iron, calcium and B12.

Starving yourself might have something to do with that along with the fact that your diet is probably unhealthy.

Look into some monoxodil (Rogaine) maybe?

I've been working with a dietitian, and following Canada's food guide. I should be eating between 1200 and 1500 calories a day. I'm not starving myself.

Are you at least cycling carbs and fats? Going ultra-low carb for extended periods of time isn't the greatest idea.

A virus causes warts, not malnutriotion. Maybe youre thinking of scurvy?

Regardless, anorexics lose their hair because they dont get enough calories. Depending on your size, 1500 calories a day may not be quite enough for you. Are you getting thicker hair on your arms?

look at the hair you've been losing first off, if there isnt a small white bulb attached to one end, then your fine, it'll grow back, because the follicle isnt attached to it. Also, if your diet is too low in fat, you'll start losing your hair, but hairloss do to diet and not androgen use, is only temporary and it will grow back.

Is the hairloss in a specific area?
My gf's sister started losing her hair... had a bald spot the size of a silver dollar.
Type of apolecia.... dermatologist started applying some cortizone based cream and hair finally started growing back. Similar thing happened to my 6 yr old nephew as well.
