what program should I use?
actually, if there is something I could use to rip audio from a .dat file would be even better.
I bought a music cd but when I put it in computer it's vcd. (actually it won't play on my mac) but on pc it's wmp that opens with movies, can't find a way to rip it.
what's best way to get the songs?
I use audio hijack for all my audio grabbing needs. I found a cracked copy on limewire a long time ago, should be easy for you to find it.
if you can open the vid with quciktime its easy.
Click on the soundtrack, then hit extract.
You can also trim it before or after if needed, and export to most formats.
thing is I can't listen/watch on my mac. VLC won't play it
on pc, when I insert the disc, wmp starts and plays the videos. (instead of the songs, get the video clips)
yup I do,
but like I said I tried opening all the files on the cd with VLC and nothing works
oh btw it's a cd I bought in Nepal, nepali music. dunno if it makes any difference as to why I can't listen to it on the mac.
if worse comes to worst I'll plug the dvd audio input and use hijack to record the music only
Its only going to be a codec issue. Some of the codecs in avi files can be pretty windows specific unfortunately.
There are programs for windows which will tell you the exact audio format, then you can google for a suitable codec for mac.
audio hijack ftw
well I plugged dvd player input got sound from hijack then soundstudio to cut into songs. all good now took a while though
