sometimes the icon spacing on the desktop gets messed up when I change around some settings for the icons. How can I reset the icon spacing?

If I have snap to grid on, that is the icon spacing. I can't move any icons into that big open space unless I turn off the snap to grid.

I had right text justification on and now it's doing this. It also happens when I put icon size way up and then turn it down.

I'm not really sure what the problem is, but you could try going to the menu at the top while in the finder and do view>arrange by>and then choose one.
