Okay, so I dont own an Ipod and I dont use Itunes. I am going to purchase an Ipod for my father this week and I wanted to get it and put music on it for him so he has stuff right away to listen to.

I have heard that if you connect an Ipod that has music on it already, to a computer that doesnt have itunes yet and then you install itunes fresh, the itunes will erase all songs already on the ipod. Is this true? Do I need to do anything other than hook up the Ipod to my computer and put songs on it, then give it to my dad? Will he be able to install itunes and start using it from there without losing any content already on the ipod?

    Thanks!

without installing third-party apps or purchasing the music and uploading to the ipod from his computer, he would lose the songs.
