Ok, my mom's winter rims look like ass. theyre knockoff amg rims with a polished lip and it appears that all of the clearcoat has chipped off and they are pitted as hell. how do i remove the remaining clearcoat from the lips and polish to a semi decent finish?

If the wheels are as bad as you say, your best option would be to have them refinished. Usually runs around $100 a wheel for them to strip and recoat it.

I would have them stripped and powdercoated. Powder tends to be a hell of a lot more durable than paint. Around my old hood it ran anywhere from $50-$75/wheel to have them completely strip and powdercoat the wheels.

is there a way i could strip off the rest myself and just use off the shelf products? They are winter rims, if they arent perfect its no biggie.
