It's probably holding on the ACOG dust cover, at least, that's what it looks like to me.

Look at the underside of the carry handle. It's mounted with the actual mount, but the zip-tie is probably there just in case something breaks, as cheap insurance to keep a really expensive optic from being lost, destroyed, etc--or, like some pointed out, possibly to keep a dust cover in place.

Rumor has it that all sorts of shit that the armchair commandos hold sacred gets tossed out the window in the real world... optics get mounted on non-freefloat rails (and real-world accuracy is not effected), bipods are rarely mounted on infantry rifles, 1 MOA is pretty damned accurate, and no weapon can succeed at doing everything.

Pretty much 1moa is damn accurate for a military m16. I mean it doesnt help when you shot 600rounds burning them off non stop in burst mode

IIRC, 3MOA is the standard for acceptance of a military M16 or M4, with standard M855 ball ammo. (many do better, but that's the minimum)

What the armchair commandos fail to realize is that the 3moa spec allows, theoretically, torso hits out to a good 600-700 meters. Most shooters can't manage that anyway, and target detection out that far is a genuine cast-iron bitch.

4moa at 100meters. 1moa for zero range at 25m of course on the zero range we only have to fire 3shots. Last time i had to run a zero range there are some fuckers that cant shoot. One guy had a good 3icnh spread at 25m and said he was good too go :ugh: Another guy had one bullet everywhere. Took him 50rds to zero

And shooting 800meter double pop ups with irons = a bitch. Esspically since every range likes to put green trees in the backgrounds with little green popup targets.

Like I said you have to realize that the amount of ammo that goes through our barrels is a shit ton. Ive shot 700rds of ammo in one day through my M16A4

looks like it's already on a regular mount and just has the ziptie on there just in case :dunno:

  18. As long as there's parkerizing under the FSB and the castle nut is properly staked, you'll be fine.

Although to recomment on this both the Army, Navy and Marines now have a designated rifle with all of the these features for strictly designated rifle men

yes, the sdm, or squad designated marksman. read about it a while back.

they still don't get the nice ammo, though.
