How to make an Aussie Rissole!

    I'm sure you guys know what a rissole is but in case you don't;

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rissole

These are a very common Australian family dish and when cooked in this way are very healthy. Your choice of mince, however, will be the main determinant in the macros.

These are best cooked on a BBQ, but I am yet to move one onto my balcony.

    First step - Ingredients

    5 star lean mince
Herbs - parsley, oregano, ground chillies, salt, pepper
    1 whole egg
    2 tablespoons flour
    Spray on canola oil

    optional - tomatoes to fry

    Second Step
Combine these all in a bowl, use your hands, mashing it into one big blob, like you would kneed dough.

    Third Step

Rip off small pieces of big blob and roll into small/med balls.

    Fourth Step

Spray the canola oil on the pan and turn it to med/medium high.

    Fifth Step
Place 4 (more or less depending on the size of your pan).

    Sixth Step
Waiting 30 seconds and then press each ball flat so that they resemble a very thick burger patty.

    Seventh Step

Fry until cooked through, quite dark on the outside, moist and slightly pink on the inside. Over cooking will ruin these as the mince is very lean.

Wow, the thought of forming beef into patties and cooking it never crossed my mind until now.

    Thanks australia!

I'm pretty sure what we're looking at is closer to a burger than it is to meatloaf, bro.

you guys are focusing too much on my irrelevant comparison of rissole to meatloaf and not enough on baseless contempt for australia as your american status deems appropriate.

I don't believe you're Australian any more. I've come to this conclusion due to 2 facts:
    1) there are no shrimp
    2) there is no barbe

most burgers use bread crums and egg as filler (and to even keep the meat together), but its more mixed in instead of chunks

This reminds me of a popular hawaiian takeout dish called "Loco Moco"

It's ground beef with chopped onions and stuff in it, served over rice w/ a fried egg ad gravy on top.

    *drools*
