    a girl friend of mine lifted through high school and college and now she isn't playing sports anymore. She wants to stay in shape (and is) but she does not want to be bulky in legs/arms [she has sick tris/delts]

    what kind of a routine should she be looking into? only thing my uninformed ass could come up with was run to stay lean and do lots of stretching.......

    PICS = :nono:

    Pretty much anything that is high intencity for a reletively long period of time like running. She might want to look into yoga too, dem yoga chicks look pretty slim and fit to me :dunno:

    I would think that if there's a correlation between running and muscle burning in the absence of carbs, then she would want to decrease her carb intake on the days that she's running.

    I have always found that long distance running was more catabolic then long distance cycling. My legs tended to gain size while cycling (but there were many steep hills in my 25 mile bike ride).

    I lost more size running ~15-18 miles a week versus biking 75-80 miles a week. Not that I was trying to lose size but it was before I was lifting several years ago.

    Yeah, a female friend of mine complained that her legs were too big despite doing a shitload of cardio. I suggested she stop cycling and only do jogging/walking and her thighs got smaller.

    Long...Grueling hours on the treadmill...she'll thin out.

    Yep yoga would be awesome for her, actually any stretching since stretching a muscle will promote sarcomeres to build at the tendon end of a muscle causing it to lengthen.

    and any type of lifting, e.g. high rep low weight exercises, would inevitably add size/definition?
