Simple Green has worked for me in the past on both metal rims and plastic wheel covers (like mine :o).

A2Z works well as does Griots Wheel cleaner. Be careful though if you use the A2Z especially if you have pits in your rims it can eat them up.

P21S's wheel cleaner is very good, but I almost never use wheel cleaners since normal car wash soap seems to be sufficient. You may need to find some angled toothbrushes, etc to get into those areas better.

Exactly, your car could be in great mechanical condition, but when it comes time to sell it, it looks like a beater.
