    I've been wondering this for some time. I found the place in the registry where Services are listed, and I made my own entry similar to the existing Services, but my homemade Service didn't show up when I looked for it in Services.MSC. There's something I'm missing and I don't know what it is. Anybody else have any experience with this?

    I have made a service with the built in Sc.exe utility provided in xp, but found it wasn't reliable. Fire Daemon is the better option and you can guarentee that it will work.

    In XP:
    * Start | Run and type cmd in the Open: line. Click OK.
    * Type: sc create <service name>
    * Reboot the system
