You can use a program called DVD decrypter (free), set it to ISO mode, create an ISO of the movie, then burn it to a DVD using any burning software. You can also use a program called DVDxCopy Platinum (not free).

google DVDShrink, that will take care of 85-90% of DVDs. If you run into one that won't copy with Shrink, you will probably have to use DVD Decrypter, rip the files to the hard drive, then use DVDShrink to fit it to a Single, single layer DVD.

Of course, if you want to spend the money for Dual Layer media, most everything I typed above is a moot point. As for copying to Dual Layer, I can't really help that much, because I don't have a DL drive.

Drives are cheap. Around $60-70 for a quality NEC 3520a drive. Dual layer media is a little pricey still, though I haven't priced it in a while to be sure.
