Ok, i had XP installed on a machine that i have, and the hard drive is failing, and i need to get my files off of it. I made the login's files and folders private while on the machine when setting it up. This hard drive no longer boots in the machine anymore, so i cant just hook a 2nd hard drive to the machine to get the files. I have since got a new drive an installed windows2000 on it. Now when i hook the hard drive from the xp machine up, i can see the documents and settings folder, but when i click on the folder that is mine it says that access is denied. Does anyone know how i can get those files or get access to those folders? thanks. Any help would be awesome - Mark

W2K would be right click folder, properties, security settings and changing the ownership of the folder.
