how should i test my maxes

    if i havent worked out in a while

    should i train a few weeks before i test them or just test em week 1

    Not training for a while and then testing out your max sounds like a good way of getting injured. Also, if you need to know your max so you can base a percentage off of it (ie. for 5/3/1), you should test it after a few weeks of training. Your strength will progress quickly initially and testing max strength right off the bat will yield you a much lower figure.

    I figure that it doesn't matter much how close the percentages are if you do the rep out exertion on the last set every time

    You can always adjust them anyway after you hit a PR

    I use the xls spreadsheet and maybe every time i PR i should change the initial variable :bigthumb:

    Seems like a good program to build a quick base on

    Got for 500lb and a thumbless grip on your bench, it's the only way to test your maxes!
