My parents are looking for a car for my little brother. He's going to college in a year. They are going to spend around 20-30k, but i suggest getting the new Mazda 3. The car looks pretty nice, but i am worried about reliablity.

It's as reliable as anything else. :dunno:

  3. Their reliability is fine, especially if he actually takes care of the car.

Just keep in mind, the Mazda3 shares a lot with Ford. So, :dunno:

Every first year model has bugs. Some worse than others.

Also, IF they're getting your little bro a new car and you guys care mostly about reliability, then Civic/Corolla > *

I got a civic and I'm in college. I think it's great not to worry if your car is gonna start or not make it on a long trip, it's such a common car, but there's a reason why it is.

The Civic and Corolla has horrible performance. I drove my cousin's Matrix (same engine as the Corolla) and i had problems changing lanes in the hw.

well i suppose if you have a newer accord, it would seem faster than the civic.

i have a 2000 civic ex and i would say the speed is comparable to my 1996 accord ex (just because of the difference in weight),I don't notice a big drop off.

is a used car out of the question? There's a lot of good used cars you can get for 20k. I got my car really recently, with 20,000 miles on it for 10k.

And if an Accord is out of the question because you don't want another Accord in the family, then get an Acura TSX.

This is all assuming you guys are buying new.

What make you think we are considering a S2000 when i'm talking about Mazda 3, Civic, and Accord? :ugh: :slap:

It's the 1st car he will be driving.
