Your home theater doesn't count. ;)

I'm talking about a real movie theater, Regal, UA, Carmike, etc. How often do you guys go?

I used to all the time, but it seems like every time I go now, ticket prices have gone up again. The last movie I saw in a real theater was Iron Man, and it cost me $20 just for the tickets (me and my wife). I don't generally consider myself a cheapskate, but $20 vs. $5 to rent it on DVD (or $20 to buy it and watch it as much as I want) means it has to be a movie that I REALLY want to see.

Not nearly as often as I used to. But I've been traveling a lot lately for work, and it sucks sitting in a hotel room, so I've hit up the theaters a few times when I'm out of town.

I see movies probably too much in the theaters, but I love it, no matter what the cost. Right now is the slow season, but when there are a few movies out my bf and I are known for usually going once a week. I'll also go and see one with my mom sometimes :dunno:

I go to a movie theater once every couple of months. I don't have that much free time these days.

When I was going for free? I'd have to go once or twice a week (reviews)

now, I'm going once a month if that.

Unless you have a serious home theatre setup (i.e. a 110 inch screen with $30,000 projector and $40,000 stereo system), then I don't understand why you wouldn't see the BIG movies in theatres.

For example, I'm surprised that you saw Iron Man in theatres but not The Dark Knight... given especially that the Dark Knight was a much better and much more movie theatre worthy movie.

And for anyone who disagrees with that by the way... Iron Man had HORRIBLE plot development.

To be honest, whenever a movie I find intruiging comes out, I'll see one... not really a scheduled thing I do. It seems to be around once a month, though.

Usually for me it's just finding people to go with. I probably go on average 2-3 times a year. Money thing is not really a big deal but that's because I only go that many times. I think it could get exepensive if you're buying for two because food is outragous in price too.

I have been asked a lot more than actually going but a lot of the times I really just dont' care to see the movie. I like to see movies in the theater that actually benefit from being in the theater. Surround sound etc.

oh yeah....forgot about Dark Knight. I saw that one at the theater too. I'll generally pay to see the BIG movies in theaters, the summer blockbuster movies, especially if they're going to have a lot of s/fx, but I'm getting more and more picky about it. I can't remember the last time I saw a comedy or a drama at the theater. Seth Rogan is funny, but not funny enough for me to drop $20 to see him make a movie about a porno.

Certain movies I must see in theaters. The Dark Knight was one of them. The Watchmen movie coming out in March will be another. I am also really liking what I'm seeing for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Unless it gets really bad ratings across the board, I'll most likely see it in theaters.

3 or 4 times a month, but I don't care for movies at home.

My big problem with theatres is the talkers. You don't need to describe the movie to your GF.

If there's a good movie out, then I will go see it in a theater. Simple as that.

I probably go mayyybe once every 4 months or so. It's hard to justify the price of it. I always tell myself I'll go see the "big movies" (ie Dark Knight) in theaters but never end up going. Watching it in the comfort of my own home is much easier & cheaper.

Once every few months when a REALLY good movie comes out that I REALLY want to see. There is way too much crap out there these days to waste $12 on. I think the last movie I saw in theaters was The Dark Knight.

I pretty much only go see movies I really want to see...and I try to go to the afternoon shows, which are only $6.00. Otherwise I just wait to buy it on DVD or download it...with my HDTV, comfy chair, and surround sound system, it's almost as good as being at the theater. More comfortable at least.
