The last time i did was in October and my Santa Rosa macbook with 4 gigs of ram is super slow right now.

It just takes forever to install updates :o

I think I did mine originally for 10.5. But then had some hardware issues and had to do a reformat a few months after one of the patches.

I think it's been over a year though.

i had to the other day because i accidentally hit the spacebar when typing a sudo command and deleted everything under /System/Library

I was amazed at how long that installation kept working after everything was gone.

i've only done it once on my desktop and never on my laptop. my desktop was running fine, but I needed that virgin clean feeling so I redid it and only installed the programs I used and now it's better than it ever has been.

What's a good program to use to keep things tidy on the Mac? I guess I'm looking for a MBP maid or something.
