Just wondering how much time off someone in the Marines might have. Recruiter was telling me about how they would work all week then have the weekend off, or work the week then would have liberty for 2-4 days and he made it sound like it was pretty reguarly. How much of that is true?

I've been off for the month and it will continue until the 18th of july. I was supposed to get some OTJ training after the end of the semester before my next phase but they still haven't found anywhere for me to go :mamoru2: when I called my liaison he told me "these things take time" and I guess politely not to bug him about it anymore. :army:

edit - not a marine, obviously

Sometimes you work 7 days a week 12 hours a day. Sometimes you go to PT and then pretty much are off the rest of the day. Sometimes you work a normal 9-5 5 day work week plus PT. Sometimes you get 4 days off for the weekend, sometimes you get one. All in all it's not TOO bad, but then again, I have a range at 0245 tomorrow..... :wtc:

That basically sums it up right there. Oh, and 24 hour duty every now and again, maybe once every 3 months or so in my command at least.

When I was active we were generally off weekends unless preparing to go on deployments or when we were in the field. (which was pretty damn often)

Ouch... I have a friend that is a nuke. He gets out in december and is basically shaking from not being able to wait. He got out of school after 2 and a half years and then got sent on a submarine for pretty much the rest of his enlistment. I don't like the way the army treats us, but you navy dudes, as much as we make fun of the navy, seriously get treated like pieces of meat.

Oh don't get me wrong. I know how the Army is. My bro is MP over in the sandbox right now. I would hate to trade places with him. I won't deny that.

Just the same, I get tired of staring at water and doing circles in the ocean for months at a time.

Truth of the matter is, no matter what branch, this is the military and it comes with the job.
