i've had my glock for a few months now and feild strip clean it after every range day (about 5 or 6 so far and ~1000 rounds) and sometimes when i'm just bored.

i know it's glock and someone is bound to tell me i don't need to clean it at all, but i've got the time and the patience :hsugh:

I used to clean my XD after every range session but now I do it every two range sessions.

I clean my sig after every single range day, but I really don't have too... I'm just anal about it. I actually completely strip all my weapons after any day they have been shot and completely clean them. Usually takes a little over an hour for each one.

I've never completely stripped any of my Sigs. I field strip them about every 3-5 range sessions. Even my ARs only get cleaned about every 500-1000 rounds. I will lube them on occasion in between cleans though, just run one quick patch down the barrel and add some lube to the main sliding parts.

and when you guys are just saying that you're "cleaning", do you mean detail stripping everytime? because i field strip everytime... but i didn't think people really took the whole gun apart everytime

I hit the "pertinent" areas, extractors, rails, etc.

But most importantly, I take the oppurtunity to inspect the critical area's of stress. Then just push a patch through the barrel and call it good.

I think more gun "malfunctions" occur from overcleaning. There's a saying in competitive shooting. "Never detail strip your gun before a match...".

Never.... On the 19 it just get thrown in the range bag. AR gets thrown behind the door, 26 gets the slide wiped down then defense ammo loaded and reholstered.

    Never

I just remove the slide from the frame. Shot of carb cleaner all over. Dunk in hot soapy water. Break Free necessary areas. Put back together.

    Voila clean.

Most of my pistols get a strip after every other range trip or 300 rds.

Desert Eagle gets a strip detail after each range trip or 100 rds.

    Damn.

Field strip, Gun Scrubber, Break Free, re-assemble, rack the slide a few times, re-apply Break Free to any spot that may have been missed, wipe down slide with Break Free-laden lint-free cloth(gotta protect that evil black finish), put back in holster.

Break Free Break Free. Just in case I didn't say it enough already.:hsugh:
