I was chatting up one of my coworkers who used to be in the national guard and he was telling me he had a burst sear he got from the army in his M4. He only shoots it on his property up north... I would never risk owning an illegal machine gun, but is stuff like this that uncommon?

I'm sure there are a lot of them. I wouldn't risk it, but I can't blame people for ignoring a stupid law.

I knew a guy in the military who swore he could get me an M4. Claimed he'd have to take it out in pieces to get it to me.

I passed. Stealing gov't property, especially from the military, just didn't sound like a good idea to me. Let alone, it's completely illegal to own that gun anyways, being that it's probably post-86.

I've heard of stories of ex-military guys being gun smiths and making ARs with happy switches.

Hell some weapons are not that hard to go full auto, its been known to be caused by a primer falling out and jamming the wrong (or right) part.

Not being an ass, but is this a serious question? Sarcasm not detected.

    No kidding.

I've been contemplating ordering a new trigger bar for my P22 so I can hack the disconnect ears off of it. :x:

20 years in prison doesn't sound like much fun to me though. :noes:

I wish they would just lift the stupid ban. If someone wants a FA for a killing spree, 10 years of FPMITA prison is going to be the least of their worries.

Most illegal mgs are the ones that WW2 vets brought back home and never registered them during the Amnesty in like 1968. So I would check your parents/grandparents attics and basements for these mgs.

I expect that SBSs are the bulk of the "illegal" weapons that keeps the BATF from sleeping soundly at night. Plenty of folks that buy a cheap pump-action or double barrel then take a hacksaw to it in the privacy of their garage...

I'm going to agree with whoever it was that said they are more common than you think. Hell, I KNOW how to modify my AK to by FA, I just haven't done it.

Why no, I don't have an AT4 buried somewhere on my property. That would be crazy. [IMG]

yah, but it would take only a few minutes to swap in a different FCG.

I'm not linking to an EDU. If you have an AK, just look at it and how the internals operate.

I know several people (friends of friends) with them. I would venture to guess there are probably a lot more around than people think.

When I worked at FT Irwin someone stole a weapon. They locked the whole base down and searched every car leaving.

    I don't know why I posted that.
