only a drawn up layout, not the html. i'm making a TGP but i'm horrible at designing and picking colors, etc :hs:

post your price, or if you'd do it for free, that'd be awesome too :o

Mangos, congratulations for contributing to the downfall of the art and skill of web design by undercharging people.

seriously, i don't have anything against people who charge what they think their time is worth, but depending on the quality of the work you want, you can get some really good deals outsourcing this to indians/etc

seriously. A few weeks ago I got a client on one of those freelance sites to convert a PSD image to a XHTML/CSS template and turn it into a wordpress template.. Did all the work and requested payment, then the guy backs out and hires someone else for the job because he only wanted $50 :ugh:. This was after I lowered my price to $150 cause I really needed the money. Fuck freelancing.

Not if that's what he values his time at. Who are you to determine market pricing?

The industry is severely over-saturated. Anyone with Photoshop is a 'designer' and anyone with Dreamweaver and ColdFusion is a 'developer'. The people who can charge clients $xx,xxx --> $xxx, xxx for a job are the ones who have been established long enough, have a powerful portfolio, and know the system well enough to test their work thoroughly and quality test every single pixel of the final product.

For most clients, a mix of ignorance and greed ensures they hire the cheaper designer/developer because the industry has done a horrible job expressing the value of quality design; the clients don't know anything about design and undervalue the designers who make suggestions; and they think a cheap job is a bargain rather than an unintelligent investment.
