A&P How much vibration can a D90 and lenses take? (Going to drag races)

Probably going to the NHRA drags this weekend coming up in Reading, PA. The top fuel cars put out some insane vibration as they tear down the track. I remember always feeling shots of pressure against my body. Can cameras take this?

I'm sure they can, but just wondering if anyone else used their camera on something like this. I'd like to be at the finish line and capture a nice photo finish.... 1/60 should do it right? :hsugh:

i've seen quite a few pictures from drag races so i'm going to assume its ok. watching/feeling top fuel cars go by in person is one of the greatest things a car guy can witness. and i'm sure 1/60 should be plenty fast to stop the action of a 320+mph car :mamoru:

Actually, the leading cause of injury at most NHRA drags are the DSLR's exploding in people's faces in the stands. Quite tragic actually.

    it is amazing!

i'm sure it feels a lot worse than it is. but shit that would suck if all of a sudden the camera starts acting up

Photos out of focus. Tough to frame and take multiple shots when the subject is moving 300 mph. Sliced and diced when I posted photos to OTAP. Other than that it was great.

My D60 did fine with a 70-200 2.8 this weekend at Brainerd. I was fairly close to the starting line. This picture is 1/4000 zoomed at 200mm , I found that I needed at least 1/1600 to get a sharp picture most of the time.

To be quite honest with you, it's very annoying to see 3 responses from someone within the same minute. This forum lacked multi-quote for the longest time, it was requested and implemented, use it.
