I noticed that whenever I used a site such as kbb or nadaguides, it only gives me a retail value for a used bike. This is a private party transaction, of course, and I'm not sure how much lower to expect.

FYI, I'm looking at an '02 SV650S, blue. Mileage 13k (above average according to KBB). Bike otherwise in perfect condition.

KBB and nadaguides say about $4150.. but again, that's retail value and for lower mileage. How do you guys price bikes?

in your situation offer 3 grand and see what happens. most likeley the seller will drop the price. tell the seller you found nicer bikes for cheaper moneys.

3 grand is a bit too low, even for lowballing... isn't it?

No signs of wear that I could find. If you set the mileage to 1k and showed the same bike to me -- Hell, I'd believe it.

    Trade in: $2900

    Retail: $4100

Halfway point is about $3500 for standard mileage of 10,500. But it doesn't look like '02 SVS generally sell for that cheap unless they have dings or scratches.

This one does have an extra 3k miles, so 13,500 total. But RS-3 slip on, flushmount signals front + back, tank bra, spools, ZG double bubble, and a bike cover. Tack on $350 to price for accessories? I'm not sure what to subtract for the extra mileage.

around here in CA that bike would be bout 3500-3700, that would be a fair price to both parties.
