Seperate lifting time from all other activities.

I spend about 45-50 minutes on lifting, only because I get to the gym late near closing times, an even hour would be nice.

This includes rest periods and everything, I don't understand what one of you meant by having rest periods as a seperate time span.

The time it takes you to get in the gym, to complete your lifting routine, and leave.

If I'm doing 5x5 what is the proper rest time in between lifts

I seem to be taking anywehre from 30 seconds to 1 minute, it feels like forever

I'll rest up to 3-4 minutes if it takes that long to recover between sets

I'm at the gym 5 days per week. I do about 30 mins of lifting, and 20-25 minutes of cardio... I also play tennis 3x per week, play volleyball once per week, and in the spring/summer/fall ride or race dirt bikes 2x per week... Keeps me in pretty excellent shape, even though I eat like a PIG...

Weight lifting portion about an hour- hour and half max.
If I go in to lift twice per day I manage to usually still keep it under a total of 2 hours altogether,
