how much should i be benching at?

    im 200lb -+
    19, male. 5'7"
    been going to the gym for about a month now doing weight lifting. how many lbs should i be benching at including bar? at how many reps? how many sets?

    not a serious lifter or competor* neither

    im just curious to know if im standing at a good point

    for starters, try to reach failure around 8-10 reps

    How the hell should we know?

    Benching your bodyweight would be a good starting point.

    eh, not easy when you're 200 lbs and 5'7" especially after one lifting for a month

    im just trying to figure out average so i could compare to see if i were on the higher level or lower.

    but if you can bare with me, with those given details, can u give any estimate of how much the average person at those descriptions should be doing? 130-150? 100-120?:dunno:

    um...why not find out on your next trip to the gym since you say you go to one... start out with the bar and work your way up?

    I think the bare minimum any guy should do is 135 which is 1 plate. i think that's attainable for everyone. any more depends on your goals
