With the M1's you have to becareful. The early serial numbers used a softer steel that can have issues. I don't recall what serial range to watch out for.

Good used price on a later model m1 is $800 - $900. The most sought after is a 21" -22" vent rib w/ choke tubes. The 18" with no chokes are less desirable because well there are no choke tubes. The 26" or longer are less desirable because the barrels are too long. A 21" m1s90 can go for as much as $1400 - $1600 after it's had work done such as lightening the bolt, rounding off all the internal edges for slicker feeding, and welding up the feed gate to remove that half moon chinese finger trap.

I love my M4. I feel recoil is much better compared to the M1.

well a gas gun like the m4 is going to be softer. The softest is probably going to be a reminton 1100. The M1 has more recoil but that does not hinder it's sheer awesomeness. You just got to get into the gun and move your feet.

if you want to do 3 gun or thinking you may do 3 gun in the future the aimpoint on the shotgun is going to put you in open class. You'll have to build out your pistol and rifle too and invest in $$$ of specialized gear. That and you'll be compeating with the big boys.

Leave it bead sight and you'll be in tactical class where there are many many more novice shooters.

    serious business

the 870 came with a rail and i'm just wondering what to put on there :mamoru:

    i ordered a surefire foreend
have a little offset light mount with a surefire for shits and giggles
also happen to have an aimpoint m4 that i don't really like on the ar's

for 3 gun, you typically want a semiauto, right?

    hmm?

    i don't see the relevance :o

at this point, i'm just collecting guns i want to shoot.

i figure i'd have a few handguns added to the mix
    1911 for .45
    a 9mm glock that's subcompact

Unless you plan on carrying it dont see why you would want to shoot it just because. Would rather get a G19 or G17 if its a starter gun unless you already have them. In that case get a 357mag snub nose that is

The 26 is a very good pistol. I have one for CCW but I carry the 19 more. I think for a first glock you'd be better off getting a 34, 17, or 19. Then get the 26.

The 19 is the best all around size for most people. Small enough that it's sexy and concealable. Big enough that you can shoot it as a range or competition gun.

Most of the SWAT guys used the M3 over the M1 because the inertia system didn't like some of the light less lethal loads.

Personally I think both are great and probably overkill for what the OP wants to do.

Oh and I have a G26 as CCW. I love it as a CCW but if the G19 concealed better I'd probably pick that.

The benelli m3 is kind of cool in that it is both a semi auto and a pump. In semi auto action it is inertia operated like the m1, but with a flick of a lever the shotgun is converted to pump action.

As you said the less than lethal rounds will not cycle a semi auto action. The drawback on the m3 is expense and weight. For me personally half the appeal of the benelli is the light weight

Right now I just have my 10/22 and an 870 with a couple barrels. Been toying with the idea of rebuying a glock 19. :hs:

i may just head out and try some shooting games with what i have though :)
