i dunno how much stronger the rear in a 92 is but i had an 83 4x4 with a 305 swapped in and it was making about 300 hp and i didn't have any problems, i ran it like that for about 18 months and i used it for off-roading and commuting everyday. it was still running fine when i sold it as the guy who owns it now still hasn't had n e trouble with it and he has had it for like 4 yrs

Depends on which rear end you have, I don't know about the 4x4's but most of the (newer) 2wd's have the 7-5/8" rear end in them which some people making a lot of power have had some probs with. If you have the 8-1/2" rear end you should be ok for a lot more power.

On second thought, it wasn't the 7-5/8" rear ends I was thinking about that were grenading, it was the 5-speed tranny in the newer s-series, should be ok on the rear end either way.

maybe someone who knows for sure will come along sometime :)

The rear axle is nothing to write home about, if you plan on using the loud pedal with mucho hp you will eventually need to swap it out.

well ive been looking at a v8 swap for a while now what id realy like to do is do an lt1 and a t56 but i dont think teh th56 will work wiht 4x4 but i could be wrong but youd have to admit a vette motor 6 speed with 4x4 would be cool but teh morotr alone is worth more than my car

I doubt they have the same rear end since they are AWD.

    523hp 737 lb-ft torque is what a 10 second truck dyno'd at.

    you have the same rear-end that came in f-bodies. it's a 7.625" 10-bolt.

you can safely run well over 300 horses.

also, for a little more power to the ground, slponline.com has a zexel torsen diff for 'em for $99. (same design as the hummer traction system).

If that is what is in it I would not want to run tons of power, those specs are nothing spectacular.

you will have to divorce the t-case since t56s never found their way onto 4x4s.

essentially you'll have three really short driveshafts.
