    Hi Guys,

I just bought an old Opel/Holden with an RB20DET transplanted into it (anyone know if it's R31/R32?), 5spd manual, pod filter sucking in cold air from behind the headlight, 3" turbo-back.. on cool nights it hits about 11psi on my boost gauge (autometer)

How much power am I making? It feels quick to me but I've only ever owned a low 15sec car :o Is this about factory boost level? Can anyone recommend a non-laggy turbo that would bolt straight on for cheap? Something old school and cheap preferably. I am thinking an RB25 turbo?

I am looking for about 180rwkw as the car is very light

looks to be an R32 as it has the cam adjuster for variable cam timing on the front of the head.

if i remember correctly, the R31's RB20DET lacked VCT.

as for power, if i also remember correctly, the RB20DET was rated at 220ps, or approximately 215-218hp.

but i dont have quick access to a calculator to translate that to kilowatts, tho.

I dont think it would be any quicker than a low 15 second car either, maybe a high 14.

Be wise to keep a non-laggy turbo on it, my brother used to have a NICS Rb20 with a hitachi HT-18 ( i think) from a s4 rx7. It was a laggy bastard but still trapped 106mph in an r31 silhoutte and made about 185kw at the wheels. It was a budget put together car.

What E.T. did it run? I'm trying to avoid lag as much as possible

What's a good RB25 turbo worth? I've seen them as low as $300

Yeah $300 is the start pricing

    It ran a 14.4 or a 14.2 or something.
Newer owner bought it and ran a [email protected] with press bent exhaust

I believe RB20s used a version of the T25 with a T3 flange, you might want to verify that, but if that's the case you have a whole ton of options open to you.
