If you are an otherwise squeaky clean citizen with no arrests, no parking tickets, never in trouble with the law, B+ college student?

Drug use includes: marijuana, mushrooms, and other psychedelics which are not illegal.

Would this prevent somebody from getting a "secret" security clearance??

I am considering enlisting in the USMC or Army Combat Camera.

    It really depends.
You would definitely want to disclose all of it, because if they ever found any conflicting information your clearance would be suspended and you would get thrown into some other job.

By druge use, are you talking about frequent usage of all of the above?

I've smoked marijuana maybe 35 times in my life, from 2002-today.
Mushrooms I did once, and the other psychedelics I have done on 5 occasions.

I've never been addicted, its always been a social thing. Never would touch hard shit like cocaine, heroin, meth, etc...

As long as you've listed the ones you've taken and the number of times, like it askes in the personnel security clearance pkg then you should be fine. I've processed packages for guys that listed the use of cocaine 10 times and some even listed LSD, and they got their SECRET clearance since they hadn't had any other negative information in their past and they have remained clean for the last couple years, or however long they have been on active military duty.

You do understand the concept of a background investigation for a Secret clearance, right?

not entirely, i mean if they interviewed people you knew about something that you did a couple times how many of those people could really a) know that you did it, b) corroborate the story with interviewees

All it takes is one person to say something

I have a guy in my unit lose his secret after 4 years of being in because they found out he used it more than he had stated.

Then you have to go through an entirely different process of a submitting a rebuttal and what not.

You list the people "who know/knew you well" on the form. That's where they start the investigation.

Alright, thanks alot for that information. I know very few (if any) people have a reason to dislike me, and the people that I did do these drugs with were my closest friends.

I just listed extended family for my references if I remember right. They wouldn't have even known any negative information about me. Just the good stuff.

without reading the thread, DO NOT FUCKING TELL THEM and make sure that you put down friends that are smart enough to tell a complete stranger that you have done nothing wrong in your entire life.
