I'm trying to figure out the relationship between SLDL's and DL's to see if I have weak hamstrings.

As of my last workout, I can do 185x4 for SLDL's and 320x4 for conventional DL's.

I dont know what my real SLDL would be, but yesterday I did 405x5 for DL then SLDL 225x3x10 and it was very easy.

I do RDLs but I did 405 for 5 pretty easily before I lost my grip on the greasy bars at the rec. Pulled 551 not too long after that

That was many moons and many pounds ago though

    I usually SLDL 275 X 5 for 3 sets and DL- 365 X 5 for 3 sets and maxed at 405 on DL.

Now that I think about it, when I SLDL I fell as though I can do more, but it feels like I'm going to hyperextend my right knee. Do you guys lock your knee to the point where it bows backwards a bit, or do you just lock it slightly bent?

I don't really go over 365 for 6-8 reps on SLDL's because my grip starts slipping. Fuckin double overhand.

I usually do 275-315 for 10-12 depending on if I am using a fat bar or regular bar.

Are we talking about straight leg or stiff leg?

What the fuck? You're not supposed to lock your legs out completely when you do that.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say he either has weak hamstrings or he doesn't put my leg into his regular DL's.

I did SLDL's again today with my knees slightly bent...huge difference. Last time I did them:

    10x95
    6x135
    4x185

    Today:
    10x135
    6x185
    4x225

Stiff leg - your legs aren't straight but they don't move.. they are "stiff"
Straight leg - your legs are straight.

When people say SLDL I usually assume it means stiff leg. I can't imagine doing it with legs locked out straight.
