How much power does that word contain in order to possibly change your whole approach in a girl?

Take "Let's go out" instead "Lets go out on a date"

Does that word really changes everything without making yourself looking too intrusive?

Yes it does. In society date is looked more towards I have an attraction sexually and mentally for you. Thus your looking to test the waters and have a relationship is the dates go well. Going out can be done with anyone and if your trying to ask her on a date it's best to be direct. Theres no need to pussyfoot around the situation.

What about getting her phone number? Is this a sign of interest or what. I mean, she could've negated it.

depends on the situation and how you asked, but if she didnt want to talk to she would've given you a fake one, or just given it to you to be nice and then ignore your calls later.

Lets just say it's a step in the right direction.

Yeah, the situation wasn't "date" related. It was more with the issue of contacting her easily for school related activities.

But, she also asked for my number.

we'll then the situation was on a friend/school level. Thats why you got it. You didnt get it because you asked her on a date. Next time you have a school event with her I'd end it offering her to meet up with you and your friends at some event that your attending that weekend. If she comes shes interested if not, better to know now than later.

So wait, what if I ask her out for a date, next time I see her.
    Too blunt?

In my opinion no. I personally like females that don't play games and cut to the chase. So I'd personally be blunt and not fuck around. You gotta ease into it though. You can't be solving problems one minute and then say hey lets get coffee sometime. Or what are you doing Thursday night I know a quality mexican place or something.

Just be casual and upfront about it if that's how you feel. Next time you see her just be like "hey.. I've enjoyed studying with you. Can I take you on a date thursday night?" or something simple. Just be honest.

if you want it to be a date, call it a date

don't be ambiguous about it... you're just going to confuse the girl

and you'll know sooner than later how she feels about rather than beating around the bush for a while until she finally realizes "ohhhhhhh thaaattt's what's going on"

...in which case you would have blown it

in everyday, normal life, it's never really too blunt or early to ask someone on a date.

Just don't do it at a funeral, or when you're at the hospital with someone or something like that.

But school or out and about in everyday life...ask away, what's the worst that can happen? She declines the offer...big deal.

totally agree. as a girl, i would prefer to know exactly whats going on. if he says "date" and i am not interested in him that way, i can let him know that right away so things dont get weird and people dont get hurt

if i AM interested, i like knowing that he also thinks this is a date instead of being left wondering if he just likes me as a friend etc.

I hate the term "go out"

Remember when you were young, say 14 years old?

    What did "go out" mean?

It meant you were "going steady" - boyfriend and girlfriend

As we get older, that connotation still exists.

(and why would anyone agree to "go out?" What exactly are they agreeing to? Dinner? Skydiving? Swimming with sharks? Watching you do your laundry?)

Make the date plan, then invite her on the date.

"Hey, I'm going hiking tomorrow at 4. Are you coming?"

Then if she asks "Is this a date?" you have lots of opportunities to tease her.

    UPDATE:
Well, I asked her out though I didn't say date (yeah i know, fuck me) but somehow I think she got the point though, because she got a little bit nervous.

Anyways, previous to this I asked her what was she going to do this weekend, and she had a lot to do.

So then I asked her out for the next one, to which she say yes. So I said to her I was going to give her a call next week to plan it, to which she said "yeah, ill let you know".

In other words, I didn't accomplish anything at all. :hs:

I've learned from experience not to plan a date for "next week." If you want to ask someone out for a date, make sure it's within the next few days. Otherwise, she has all this time to forget your presence and/or get cold feet. If you've been building up game and scored a date for next week and you won't see her for the next 5 days, you're effectively throwing all that game you built up out the window. In the mean time, she'll sort of forget how you made her feel and she'll come up with an excuse to not follow through. Get the date fast, do the date slow.

A week's a long time. Think about it...who wants to wait a week to do something fun, when you could do it in a day or two?

troof. this has been my experiance as well.

ask them to do something within the next day or two..

not often has something that was planed out a week or two in advance ever worked out.

Yeah I know. The good thing is that I see her twice a week, so I am seeing her on Thursday. :)

It's difficult. I'm actually trying to make plans with a girl as I type this. :o

She and I hang out with a certain group, and some of them are going out Friday night. I just want to invite her. :dunno:

    :ugh:

    just reread the thread...

well IMHO ya kinda fucked yourself by planing for next weekend.

In hindsight a tuesday night activity or wed would have been better.

in for updates of what happens though.. :bigthumb:

IMO she tested you and you failed. She wanted to see how bad you wanted it. You should have said something more forceful and assumed she wanted to go. Take control of the situation and lead her. Females like that because your a leader. You'll figure it out next time. She could've also just flat out not liked you.
