How much can your CPU/RAM slow down graphics performance?

I upgraded to an AGP X1950 Pro, because my old 6600GT couldn't handle the 1680x1050 LCD I got. Anyways, it's meant to be about the fastest AGP card you can get, but the performance jump doesn't seem to be what I was expecting.

    My system:

    P4 2.8 533
    1GB Kingston HyperX DDR333
    AOpen AX4GE Tube
HIS Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB running at 621/786 (Catalyst set those #s)

I got avg 30fps in the Lost Coast stress test, with 4XAA, 2XAntiscopic, and all details at high. Skipped around too, and hung around 20fps for a good part of it. Is that about right, or a little low because of my older processor and memory?

Yeah, I have a Thermaltake 480W PSU. I used a calc before I bought the card, it gave me a # around 375W (not draw, for the PSU I'd need)

The CPU and RAM will not slow down graphics performance very much. That's why there's a dedicated graphics processor and dedicated graphics memory in the first place.

Those are for PCs optimized for speed tests. For an everyday computer such as yours, you will probably never reach those specs.
