How many times can you bench press your weight?

    Recently there was a bench press competition at my college. It was based on how many times you can lift your own weight touching your chest and locking out. Just curious if anyone else has tried this.

    Weight classes-
    170lbs and under
    170-199lbs
    200lbs+

    I won the 170+under with 35 reps @ 150lbs. Last year I did 40 @ 142lbs.

    i weigh 175 and my 1RM is 165 :wtc: my bench is weak as fuck but then again i only started lifting heavily and bulking around december.

    i have benched 115kg for 1RM, weighing ~80kg, but i dont think i could bench 77kg now for more than 15 reps, have not benched anything for about 6 months

    Haha no they were pretty strict with the rules. I took a couple seconds between some reps and they didnt count it :squint:.

    I don't know, I never go higher than 135 because i do high reps for muscle tone not size

    A couple seconds seems like an eternity when the weight is on your chest. It probably wasn't nearly as long as you thought. At least, that's the experience I've had.
