Provided you're not 1RM(ing) of course. How many do you usually go for?

Is there a reason to do more weight with less reps or is it a balance like every other exercise?

If I'm doing more than 3 I usually reset for each rep, if that helps, never going above 6 for a straight set... when I reset I go even lower though?

Does anyone have a link to proper dead lift form. I feel I never get them right and aways hurt my back doing them so I avoid dead lifts because of that.

When I'm warming up, I might do some light sets of five, but as far as working sets, never more than 1 usually

i always hit DL's real hard.

start with a nice warmup of 135x10
    then 225x8
then start putting some weight on and work up to what i feel my 3 rep max is, and repeat it as many times as i can before i fall down.

I think that's ten sets of 3 reps.

I do 3X5 or 3X6. Sometimes I'll do a set of 8 with much lighter weight for warm ups.

When you are that tired, its really easy to mess up and round your back for the latter reps. Plus my grip doesn't hold for that long.

Dude, don't feel bad. I was doing a set of 15 then 10 then 8 then 8 then 6. I agree that the grip will start to fail on the later sets. I'm going to switch it up to heavier weight with lower reps.
