Hate it. Dropped it after that goblin-lookalike was presented. Fuck this shit. It's seriously bad. I only hung in there because i've been a big Spiderman fan for years, and that's the problem. They practically negated all those stories, fucked up big stories and just generally made him look like a faded copy of the Spiderman we knew pre-OMD.

What I feel is that fuckin Aunt May NEEDED to die. They were going to a new world for Peter... with him being unmasked... having Aunt May die (who is fucking old enough) would allow Peter to grow as a character like he had never before. She gave him advice and confidence, and taking that away would've forced Peter to man up, and MJ to mature as well. But no, fuck that, we want Peter to be a socially inept late 20's guy living with is senile Aunt.

As I said before, the only arc I've liked so far in BND has been the Mayan arc that Chris Bachalo drew with the Wolverine team up, aside from that it's very uninteresting to me, and I've almost given up reading the book.

I tried to give it a chance, but after reading a few issues I hated it even more than I thought I would

She's "died" previously, but it's all been retconned or plain forgotten about.
Crunks is right. Bitch needed to die.

They turned responsible good ol' charming Peter Parker who was doing a good job of being SpiderMAN and turned him into some lameass faggot who's sucking his aunt dry and when she can't give shit to him turns to his best friend and snilches off him.

And as far as i know they still haven't explained dick shit about what happened prior to the moment we were introduced to the new story in BND.

I have the issue where Aunt May died for the first time. Then after getting away from comics for a few years, I'm just surprised that Aunt May's alive.

Why the fuck does Marvel want Aunt May alive? Isn't she like 200 years old or something?

she's a staple of the universe that is spider-man...too long a core part of spidey's world. sure, they can kill her, but she will ALWAYS come back, no matter how stupid the resurrection is.

I've enjoyed the art since BND started, but the writing's just gone to shit. Can't believe they tried to sell 'Freak' as a villain and an anti-drug story. Absolute shit.

    :o

After reading through all your thoughts, especially the one about Spiderman growing as a person what not, I am having a bit of a change of heart.

The reason I voted that I liked it was because I just got into comics. I thought it was a good way for me to get back into my favorite character w/o having to read through all the years of back story that I missed. It was a reset. Sure it was a cop-out and some things don't make sense, but it was easy to jump back into it.

Also - since I have just got back into comics, its hard for me to compare what good storys are to bad storys. (recommend me some shit?) I just like watching him swing around and blabber to himself.

Does this mean I'm kicked out of OTCC Lurker crew? :hsd:

if you wanted to get into spiderman without going through decades of backstory why didn't you ask us first?
the correct answer would have been Ultimate Spiderman

You can stay. For now :squint:

    For some good reads for his stuff over the last couple of years;

The Other - second biggest development for Spiderman in years
Civil War - He unmasked himself to the public, biggest one if you ask me
#471-#479/Vol 2 #30-#38 (JMS started going all mythical on us. Awesome stuff)
#491/Vol 2 #50 - MJ and Peter get back together. Captain America and Doom guest star. Best Doom guest starring ever.
That's the better ones i can think of on top of my head, atleast in the last couple of years. Oh, and New Avengers too, of course, but that's a given. Same with stuff like McFarlane stories, Clone Saga and Kraven's Last Hunt etc...

    Wrong, mate. Avengers > Ultimates
    X-Men > Ultimate X-Men
FF (albeit very slow and kinda :hsugh:) still > Ultimate FF

Spiderman is the only Ultimates line that has even tried to keep a consistent good run. Don't even get me started on FF.
