Like if I were to build one myself, what all am I looking to order here?
I kinda want to build one, sounds fun, but not if it's like 11ty thousand parts.

Liar. There's more than 7 parts. Maybe in just the lower alone.

If you're building one the most common route is:

    Stripped lower
    Lower parts kit
    Complete upper

You can fuck around with building an upper but it's worth the premium to just pay for a complete upper. If you're really picky and need certain features you can customize an upper with del-ton or someone similar.

Not sure. That's part of why I'm asking. I wanna know what goes into the whole damn thing.

really not many, the lower parts kit alone has the most parts in it but most people tell you it takes them 15-30 minutes to put in their first time.

The upper is cake if you're not a tard. If you already have reason to own a torque wrench or vise you probably won't find it a challenge.

You don't need to worry about each individual part. They don't sell them like that for builds.

lower parts kit will have everything you need.

Heres what you need to create a fully functional rifle.

    Stripped lower
    Lower parts kit
receiver extention/buffer tube, buffer, buffer spring, stock
    Upper assembly w/barrel and handgaurds
bolt carrier group (if the upper does not include one, most do)
    Magazine
    Ammo

Assuming you have all the parts in front of you, it will take you under 45 minutes to get this thing shooting.

    How much are uppers usually?
I know stripped lowers are somewhere in the range of $100-$200 right now. But what about complete uppers. $500-$1,000?

Yeah, they usually range between 400-700 for a decent one, 800-1000+ for super uber leet fr0ng uppers.

My stag 2HT upper was $600. Came with BCG, Flip up low-prof rear sights, full carbine length free float rail.

Minus whale just buy a M&P15 for ~$800 and call it a day. Does sound fun to build one though.

It was a lot easier than I expected. I put aside an hour for me to complete it. Finished it in 30. I wish I had a roll pin punch though.
