I need to start doing this.
since i started doing 5/3/1 i just write what im supposed to do for the main movement on a notecard and bring that
i don't bring a workout journal. I do log what i do on my comp, but i wait til i get home.
I have a spreadsheet that does calculations on my computer. Write down what pounds/reps i need to get in my notebook and bring that to the gym.
I keep one because I can never remember all of the reps from my previous week.
Have they helped you keep progress?
helps a lot with your workout... it lets you know know when the last time you did a certain workout and how many sets/reps so you can consistently progress
pretty gay..the only ones that do are the skinniest/worst looking dudes in the gym. Lifting weights isn't a science experiment.
bring mine every time. I was getting too retarded to remember what I did by the time I got back to my apartment
Every single time; i don't see how people don't. I wouldn't be able to remember what weight I used last and what I had to beat if I didn't.
I use my memo on my iphone and just track it that way. it makes it way easier for me imo. i tried gym buddy or lose it and whatnot but for me it just didn't work like i wanted it to :/
my bro uses a pen/paper...but thats way too old school for me. gotta rock teh iphone. naddidimean?
Yep. Have kept the notebook journals for the last 11 years though I've always done it.
That's a pretty stupid thing to say.
I would use the iPhone too, but I don't like carrying it around the gym. I will manage to break it somehow. If I do take something to the gym, it would have to be pen and paper
Looks like I'm bout to start..... any suggestions/tips I should know?
Anyone take it a step further and count their food macros? I've always wanted to but cant seem to get the motivation
I really hope you get run over by an 18 wheeler.
Macros? I count everything, Macros, calories , everything.
Yep. I've been doing this for the past 2 years. If you asked me what I ate on any certain day, what time of the week, I could just pull it off FitDay and tell you. Down to the gum I chewed and how many calories it has. That being said...
Here was my diet for today.
timber's journal is ridiculous
Guess only thing I'm not doing it keeping a journal. Need to start
timb and lolly, how did you guys get in the habit of writing the foods you eat down all the time? keep pen and paper on you or cell phone or what?
my issue with fit day is that whenever i try to start it and write foods down .. i usually end up having to manually write the macros in for each thing and its really frustrating
I started when I wanted to lose weight. 300lbs down to 155lbs and now 185lbs /w muscle.
Issue? That's what I love about FitDay. I have over 2,000 custom labels. I enter in my own foods, this way you get into the habit of reading everything nutritional information. Plus this way it's way more accurate than using "ballpark" figures.
Plus it's online and you can access it from anywhere. Dailyplate + FitDay combo cannot be messed with. I love the simplicity of Fitday.
i use fitday everyday.
Just build in the custom foods, sucks at first, but now its super easy. And since meals are generally the same (one meal might be 2 servings oatmeal, scoop of protien powder and an apple, second meal chicken brocoli and almonds) after awhile its as simple as clicking "view my recent" check mark the 3 to 4 items that is your standard meal from the day before or last week, whatever, and click add to my log.
so in a matter of less than a minute i say
okay, i'm going to have yesterdays breakfast (check check check add)
wednesdays lunch (check check check add)
tuesdays dinner (check check check add)
oct 2nd's pre and post work out shakes (check it all up, add)
and saturdays snacks (check, check add)
