I have never thought of it, but I'm curious, are you in your normal state of mind. Does suicide seem like a LOGICAL choice, even though in your right mind, you know it's not the right choice?

I've considered and attempted, but failed. I don't consider myself to have been in my normal state of mind because I was super depressed and I do not remember actually taking the pills I tried to O.D. on (I have naturally low blood pressure, but was suffering from insomnia so I was given medications to lower my blood pressure and put me to sleep). When I woke up and realized what happened, it was a real WTF? moment.

I definitely have had moments where I have felt that suicide would be the right/logical choice but I never carried it out except that one time. Definitely not the right state of mind in retrospect.

ive tried and almost completed it, but in the end failed.

when your depressed, emotional, on medications, etc your not really in your right mind anyway so at the time yea it seems like a logical way out. Only way to get yourself out of that is to calm down ASAP and collect your thoughts

I've considered it, and logically since death is pretty much the ONLY guaranteed thing we have in this life, I figured I'll stick around for the ride. :hsd:

Ive never considerd it logical, but when you hit those points in life where people/things/objects/ideas just keep tearing at you for a long period of time it comes to my mind, but I dont have the morality or soul to do it.

    Yes.

Even when I am not seriously considering it, the thought of not having to deal with anything anymore is a comfort.

I considered it, nearly attempted it. I dont think I was in my right state of mind though. I'd been upset for weeks about stuff, and when my best friend told me she was sick of it and to just go through with it already, I almost did.

    I'm glad I didnt though.

to some extent, i think everyone thinks about suicide

yes, I have considered suicide and planned everything out and what things would be like, but never did it. I look back and I see that I had no valid reason to end my life. At that time in my life I wasn't focused

Have, but realised that it wasn't the proper way to deal with problems in your life. Its the easy way out, but not the right way.

Im at the stage right now, where my entire life is falling apart, so yes, I have contemplated doing it, infact almost every day. Im just too much of a pussy to go through it though.

I seriously considered it a couple of months after my wife filed for divorce. I told my wife but she wasn't helpful. So, I then planned to actually shoot myself, but I called my friend and he talked me out of it. I was completely serious about taking my own life, although I didn't get to the point of loading a gun.

I disagree, I don't think you're a pussy for not doing it, I think you are brave :) It takes courage to keep yourself from doing something you want to do

I disagree. It takes courage to overcome a fear. If you want to die to escape problems (the usual reason) then you don't fear death so there is no courage in doing it whether you want to or not.

It takes courage to face your problems and fears and to continue to live.

Oh and I've never considered doing it. I think of it as the weak way out.

I think pretty much everyone THINKS about it. Not many actually try it or actually do it though. Everyone hits those low points in life. Any time i feel like that i just tell myself im going to wait it out and see what tomorrow brings, and i usually wake up the next day and think WTF was i thinking. Sometimes you just have to put your life into perspective and really think about it.

I tired to do that when I was 17-ish.

Now, 20 years later, I cannot believe how amazing life is. Every year has gotten better and better. All my dreams (for the most part) have come true, and I've done more fun things than I could ever have even thought up. :big grin:

It has crossed my mind but i have never given it serious thought.

I think its normal to think "what would the world be like without me, who would care?"

exactly. My freshman year of highschool, I got so overwhelmed with things that I was depressed, and did honestly think about it. But it was just before I tried anything that a few really great friends of mine got my parents involved so I could get the help I needed. :hs:

But to answer the question, I was in an altered state of mind, being depressed has you think about all the worst things, and to consider suicide as a way out speaks volumes about the mind set anyone who is depressed must be in
