How many of you guys pose or "flex" the muscle group after or during training?

    again this can be a helpful tool in helping you develop the mind to muscle connection and help you maintain control over those muscles being worked.

    This practice has become a vital tool in my workout routines. The only part I don't flex consistantly throughout the routine will be chest and back. That I go downstairs in the mirror room and bang it out for about 5-10 minutes.


    anyone else?

    not after but during. For the same reasons you said. If you know how to isolate a particular muslce group to get the best flex then you can also isolating it during your lifts better. I do flex my back durning though, and that's because I tend to have issues getting the intensity on my lats and not my bi's. It helps a shit load.

    Too embarassed to do it at the gym.
    Been trying to do it for lats in the privacy of my home. Though hardly consistent yet. How long do you hold each pose for???

    In the gym, I don't always "'hold a pose", more like a quick couple of seconds in the mirror or something.

    just like the training log it does. Newbs or whoever need to learn muscle control more than the seasoned trainer.

    does flexing in between sets help the blood flow and have a positive effect on muscle growth?

    yes and no, it can lead to a premature pump feeling that gives you the thought that you've done enough. Just make sure you work through it. It does keep the muscle warm and working inbetween sets, possibly helping to remove some but very little lactic acid.

    I agree, I am just trying to make a point that if one was to see most of us flex at the gym they would laugh their ass off :p

    I also tend to cramp up really badly if I flex while working out that bodypart.
    Any possible reason? Electrolyte imbalance?

    potassium(sp?) and Taurine. Redbull is a suprisingly good source of taurine.

    WTF man? You're embarassed about posing? You've got a better body than 99.99 % of the human race.

    I don't really pose, but I do flex arround some inbetween sets, just to keep my concentration on the right muscles. I don't do much posing at the gym because I'd look like a tool. "Grrr, 167lbs of hellish fury bitches. Grr.":o

    you don't have to do a manditory bbing pose like you're on stage man.

    I don't throw a front dble bi after each set...I just curl my arm upu and hold it for a second count.

    I'll hold and release a few certain muscle groups -- but aside from that my lifts get my entire body tight
