Found a good place to order a diy kit. Very decent price and seems like nice materials. Just curious if anyone else used one for hunting, paintball, whatever? I'll be using mine for hunting.

Did you order it pre-assembled or put it together yourself?

The site has a spray that makes you and the suit smell like decaying leaves....I'm tired of sitting in tree stands, its too fucking boring. And its cheaper than the shitty 'leafy wear' that the camo companies are selling these days.

what constitutes a rifle as a "sniper rifle"?... its just a term that anti-gun people use to induce a negative connotation.

And aren't all 50 cal's armor piercing? :ugh:

We tracked some fugitives through the woods a few years ago. They were homicide suspects. The lead handler is ex special forces, so he pulled his out. After using it, the dept bought some for all the handlers/swat.

i'd feel like a douchebag going to the range in one. i don't hunt so i can't even use that as a "tactical" advantage going for me.

I don't see why you would want to hunt with one. They're bulky, you'd have to wear some sort of orange over one, and you don't need one to kill a deer or whatever you're after. I've stood in the middle of a field and had 4 does run in the middle of it (this was during a drive), stand about 30yds away from me, and just look around. The thing you really have to worry about is scent.

Because "sniper rifle" sounds cooler than a "precision rifle"... guess you aren't a 1337 CS Player!

Wondering the same thing... Why do u want a ghillie suit when u have to have some sort of orange over it anyway... and it doesn't help... There are guy's that go out and hunt in their all bright orange camo...

Here during deer firearm season you have to wear 400 square inches on blaze orange. Actually a ghillie suit wouldnt be that bad for turkey hunting but would probably be a bitch to draw a bow in for bow season.

You don't have to wear orange in Texas unless you're hunting in national forest.
I hunt a lot of day leases where the deer have a lot of experience with people and being hunted/shot at.

if you want to do it, do it. i've thought about getting one just cuz i want one. i have hunted from the ground, with just my camo suit, face mask and camo burlap in front of me. sprayed myself with a mixture of vanilla and water. had deer within 10 yds and even one doe 7 feet away, and was never winded or spotted. i was even talking to them and they didn't spook. btw- this was in Uvalde Co., TX. so if you want one, get one. is it a neccessity, not really. but hey, the only person that has to approve is you. so don't worry about the haters.

Well, at $64 and a few hours invested I hardly think its going to hurt to try. Plus, there's no such thing as being too camouflaged. If anything I'll be able to hunt animals that are smarter than deer with it. :dunno:

Hunting humans, a suit is the best thing since sliced bread, but against animals. It's only 40% useful. you need to camoflauge your odor more than anything.
