How many green tea capsules should I take in a day?

    They are 315 mg capsules. It says on the back 1 with each meal but it's GNC so I'd rather ask you guys.

    it depends on the % EGCG; green tea supplements vary wildly on how much EGCG they have in them.

    For example, the primaforce lean green i take has 250mg EGCG per capsule, and i take 1 with every meal.

    (Camellia sinensis) (14% Polyphenols = 44 mg)

    For reference, Lean Green:

    90% polyphenols
    70% catechins
    50% egcg

    EGCG is a specific type of catechin, and catechins are a more powerful subset of polyphenols. you can look up details on the 3 at wikipedia.

    while all the polyphenols are bioactive as antioxidants, egcg is the most potent and its 100x more powerful of an antioxidant than vitamins C or E.

    if your stuff is only 14% polyphenols, chances are it has almost no egcg.
