Rumors are floating around about a dual core platform being developed for the mac. How long do you guys think it will be until is actually shows up in the next generation of power macs?

I'd put money on it that it comes out in the G4 processors for PowerBooks before anything. The G5 chip from IBM is still having yield problems and they are having a hell of a time getting high frequencies without heating the chip up too much. I'm not sure yet that they can really do a DESKTOP Dual-Core G5 chip...

that being said, the next logical step is a Dual-Core G4 (already demo'd last year) for the powerbooks to keep them moving up in speed...

it's essentially having two processor brains (the core) inside of one processor housing
