When going on sub 100 (50-100g) of carb for long stretches of time (ie. months), how many days between card re-feeds are recommended?

Carb up once per week? Once per fortnight?

    PS. For cutting.

Yeah I usually do it every 6th day. I load up to about 300-330 grams. Then back to 90-100g's the following 5, 6 days. Has worked with great results.

And it consist of all clean carbs. And I go low fat to compenstate for the high carbs. Then the other five days I go low or moderate carbs and high fat.

How far below 100g? Most people could go sub 100g indefinitely.

Yeah <100g is pretty vague....but most good low carb diets recommend a weekly carb-up.

    I count fibre as carbs.

For 2 weeks I've been on around 45g per day (salads) but with the occasional 75-100g day where I eat an apple or something.

I haven't cycled yet though so I suppose I'd better do a carb up. Clean carbs and cut fats you say?

Thanks for the tips. 300g of carbs seems like a lot though - especially if I'm dropping weight. Trying to dry out a bit.

PS> Are the carb refeeds for insulin sensitivity?

I do it how my body reacts to it. I go between 90-105 carbs daily for four to five days. Then I would have a high carb day like 300 grams and I keep the fats low only to keep my calorie intake normal.

Since I'm taking an extra 200 grams of carbs. I have to compenstate for that and lower my fat intake a lot. Then the next couple of days I go back to normal 90-105 grams.

But play around at first with it, experiment add an extra 50-75 grams, and see how your body reacts to it. And only do the refeeding of carbs for one day not like three days.

Been doing this for the last three months, and the weight has been steadily dropping.

Here's what Pur recommended to me.

    3-4 days ~75g fat, <50g carbs
    1 day ~<50g fat, ~200g carbs

    Worked great for me.

The only thing I can think of is a 1/2 cup of oatmeal in the morning and only veggies like broccoli or green beans with all your other meals.

3-5 days of low carb followed by one day of high carbs and repeat ad nauseam.

I was 6'3" 188ish at the time, so that may be why. Also, it was the last month of my 3 month cut and I was looking to shave off as much fat as possible, which probably accounts for the difference.

For me, the 220g worked perfectly...I'm pretty sensitive to carbs, so I try to keep them low for the most part.

damn i think i almost died of starvation just reading your low-carb diet haha. your high-carb is more like a typical day for me. do you drink lots of water on low-carb days to help feel "full" between meals?

one thing i do hate about springtime cutting... chinese buffet, i'll miss you :sadwavey:

I eat like a cup of almonds for my fats on my low carb days. Maybe more later on in the night

When I'm cutting, past the 2 or 3 week mark I lose pretty much any desire to eat, so it's actually really easy. Prior to that it's just willpower...you either have it and look the way you want or you don't.

I drink a lot of water regardless of the day, but it definitely helps to keep you full minus the peeing every 30 minutes.

That's how I'm going to do it too–makes too much sense not to. However, I'm going to try to keep the carbs as clean as possible e.g. not going to eat french fries and what not.

I just power through it...if it gets that bad for you I'd recommend taking a stimulant of some sort. At the very end of my cut when my carbs are super low for 5 days at a time I'll do an EC stack...helps with the energy and helps me shed that last bit of fat.
