Never really done these before today. should I just like, stop for a 1-2 count and keep my legs tense, and am I supposed to actually sit down and relax my legs a bit before I push back up?

I relax my legs to lose the stored energy in them. This makes it harder to go back up but should make you stronger in the long run.

sit back, and stand back up, dont bounce off the box, and you are fine

You only relax your hip flexors, not your legs.

it's not better, it's just different. IMO it's great for training your regular squat.

:werd: I think the most common misconception about box squats is that you are supposed to actually sit down and relax like you would if you were sitting to rest or something.
