How long have you been training?

    I see pictures of a lot of you guys and I wonder how long it took you to get to the level you're at today.

    I've trained off and on since 9th grade but only 10 months strait recently seriously and correctly. When I started off this time I still had some muscle left over from my previous training so I had a little bit of an advantage.

    How about the rest of you?

    13 years with a 4 year break for school/when I started working. Picked it back up earlier this year.

    3 years and 6 months with a huge 3-month break because of surgery a year ago... lost lots of strength

    Trained on and off since high school. Been back at it seriously for about 2 years.

    16 months consistently after not doing anything for about 2.5 years

    about 8 months seriously with diet. the rest was crap, and i blamed it on genetics for not growing.

    Lifted hard in college, I had no idea what I was doing or how to eat. Went from 170 to 185. Did nothing except ride my mountain bike for a while, went to law school, went up to around 240 as a fat slob who did nothing at all except drink Mt. Dew and smoke. Starting lifting again, didn't eat right, off and on through another round of back pain and a surgery.

    I have been extremely focused on it now for about a year, finally got the food thing down maybe 6 months ago. My body composition has changed so much that 80% of my clothes no longer fit and are now in storage.

    One year of smart, consistent weight training. Before that I wasn't even doing lower body workouts.
