You may feel lame for going alone, but you really shouldn't worry about it. Honestly, people go to those things alone all the time. It's not like you're trying to make it out as a date or anything, are you? :naughty:

I learned a long time ago that people don't want to be around me, and I had to learn to enjoy doing everything alone. Sometimes its refreshing, most of the time its depressing. I don't mind doing a track day alone, but every time I eat dinner it sucks.

it's for school, why does it matter if no one wants to go with you?

... and you've got $51 more than you would have had. Enjoy the music, a prime-rib dinner and fine wine. Its not like you are going to miss any sparkling conversation while the French Horns to their thing. Had you taken anyone with you, you'd have ended up with fast food and a diet coke.

Relax, eventually you'll run across someone who is so comfortable to be with that you'll stumble into a relationship that might last 40 years. And, after five of those years you'll appreciate having a moment alone without a beloved son who can't seem to behave in public.

I went to see Lewis Black last night by myself. Earlier in the week, I went to see Trail of Dead by myself as well. There's nothing lame about that. Nobody is watching you as much as you are watching yourself.
