I'm really looking for something that can zoom in more but I dont want to have to switch lenses everytime I want to do that. I currently have the nikon d70 kit lense 18-70mm so I'm looking for something that will overlap that and go to atleast 200mm so I can just use that and a wide angle. How does this tamron look? Any other suggestions? Not looking to spend more than 800$

Doesnt that take forever to get?

How much can you typically sell the 18-70 Kit lense for?

we owned two 28-300 Tamrons and they were incredibly soft. Im not sure how this lens will be but I wouldn't trust tamron in that range again. I'd try the Nikon VR as well.

and did I read it wrong or did the ad say it was an IF lens. it doesn't look IF to me. :dunno:

Tamron only makes a few worthwhile lenses and their 28-300 isn't one of them.

$800? Even Cord Camera had them for $699 like a month or so ago.

You're right, a large sized camera store like Cord Camera doesn't carry the 18-200VR. Maybe they were just being nice by selling 50 of them on eBay at $699 when they first came out.
