like if I wanted to write my own raw reader.. I need to know how the information is saved to know how to display or convert it to anything else, yea?

I know raw files are different for each camera.. but deconstructing even one would be a good starting point.. so anyone have a link?

They're all proprietary. And not just per maker but per camera as well. All raw software converts the colors and approximations on the file differently, because they had to guess as to what the camera is rendering.

You'd be better served by calibrating your raw conversion software.
