I've been reading alot of Pilates and Yoga books lately and they all seem to say that a strong abdominal area is crucial. Sometimes I feel like I could use alot of work in my abdominal area. My questions: What defines a well toned abdominal area? How can a person tell if he/she needs to work on abdominal muscles? Are they genetic, or can anyone achieve maximum results? Personally, I believe this to be the most important muscles in the body because they allow you to hold your body up straight and therefore you can also hold your spine straight. And the more muscle you have, the more strain you can put on your body while still maintaining a straight back. Anyone have a link for really effective abdominal exercises?
