How hot can a HD safely run?

    I resently installed a second HD on top of my old one and they both run at about 56 C is this too hot?:noes: I cant remember what temp my HD ran before this.

    it's on the high side, but still within spec. What do you have in terms of cooling? Can you space the drives further apart? I'd run at least an 80mm fan (if not a 92 or 120mm fan) to blow air over them, and overall lower case temps.

    what specs on the drive?

    I just have the Cpu fan & heatsink and one fan that blows air out the back of the pc,the hard drives are 40Gb and 90Gb,both 7200rpm. Where would i plug in an extra fan? couse my motherboard doesnt have any more fan connectors

    get a 4-pin molex fan and plug it into your psu.
